From January 21 to January 27, the European Figure Skating Championship will be held in Minsk. For the first time, the strongest athletes of the continent including world leaders from Russia, Italy, France, and other countries will come to the Belarusian capital. Worthwhile to mention that as for ticket prices, this is the most affordable European Championship in the last 10 years.
Before Belarus, the European Championship was hosted by Estonia, Switzerland, the UK, Croatia, Hungary, Sweden, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Russia. The most expensive tickets were at the European Championships in Switzerland 2011, where a ticket for all days cost from 345 to 610 euros, and on certain days – from 40 to 160 euros. Subscriptions for the European Championship in 2010-2018, on average, cost from 170 to 300 euros, on some days – from 16 to 70 euros.
In Belarus, a subscription for all competition days costs from 100 to 250 rubles, which is three to four times lower than the average Euro prices for the last 10 years. The most expensive tickets for certain days cost 50 rubles (a gala concert), which is almost two times cheaper than the average level of previous championships. On days of competitions tickets in Minsk cost from 30 rubles, for official training – from 5 rubles. Yulia Komleva, chairman of the Belarusian Union of Skaters, notes:
– The organizing committee of the competition tried to do everything possible to make the ticket program affordable to everyone. The leaders of the national teams of Russia, Italy, France, Spain, and other leading European powers will come to the European Championship competitions. All this represents a unique opportunity for the Belarusian and foreign audience to see the leading European athletes live on the ice of the Minsk Arena.
The opening ceremony of the championship will be held on January 23. Competitions will be held from Wednesday, January 23 to Saturday, January 26 inclusive. January 21 and 22, viewers will be able to attend official training. The championship will be closed on January 27 with a gala concert featuring the winners of the competition.
