Belarus proposes to Azerbaijan that they launch flights to the U.S. via Minsk

Belarus and Azerbaijan

The Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus, Alexei Avramenko, met with the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Technology of Azerbaijan, Rashad Nabiyev, in Baku. They discussed the expansion of transport cooperation between the two countries. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport.

During the talks, the parties discussed cooperation in the field of aviation – restoring regular flights between Belarus and Azerbaijan to the pre-pandemic levels. As of right now only Belavia has regular flights between Minsk and Baku.

Alexei Avramenko proposed to his Azerbaijani counterpart that they work out the possibility of launching a roundtrip transcontinental AZAL flight from Baku to New York with an intermediate stop in Minsk. In his opinion, those flights could be in demand not only among the Belarusians and Azerbaijanis, but also among passengers from the Baltic States.

They also discussed the development of railroad transportation as well as the launch of a container train Minsk-Baku. Furthermore, cooperation in the field of motor transport was discussed. Lastly, Belarus requested to increase the quota of Azerbaijani permits to/from third countries.
