Foreign nationals usually require a visa to visit Belarus, but since July 27, 2018 foreign citizens of 74 countries are able to enter the country through a simplified procedure. They can visit any place in Belarus within 30-day period of time, but must arrive and leave the country only through Minsk National Airport.

Flights from Russia to Belarus (and vice versa) are considered internal and are not subject to border control, so the rules of visa-free entry do not apply in this case. Visa-free entry also does not apply to foreigners coming to Belarus if they plan to stay within the country for over 30 days.

To enter the Republic of Belarus without a visa, foreign citizens must have the following documents:

  • a valid passport or another substituting document for traveling abroad;
  • financial means (at least two base amounts denominated in dollars or Belarusian rubles for each day of stay, or 50 base amounts if the period of stay is 30 days);
  • medical travel insurance valid across Belarus with a minimum medical coverage of €10,000;
  • Citizens of Vietnam, Haiti, Gambia, India, Lebanon, Namibia, Samoa must have a valid multi-visa to the EU states or the Schengen Area with a stamp confirming the entry to their territory and plane tickets confirming the departure from Minsk National Airport.

Warning. Visa-free stay begins on the day of stamping your passport. If you arrive late in the evening and go through customs clearance before 12 a.m., it will be considered the first day of your visa-free stay.

Foreign citizens, who plan to spend more than 5 days in Belarus, must be registered with the police and indicate their address. If foreign guests stay at a hotel, hostel, sanatorium or other collective accommodation facility, the registration with the police is made by the management of these facilities.
